Revenue Recognition

Intacct offers revenue recognition capabilities, allowing businesses to defer income and amortize revenue over time as goods or services are delivered. This functionality is available through subscriptions for Accounts Receivable or Order Entry.

Why it matters

Accountants and controllers can use Intacct's revenue recognition features to accurately reflect financial performance by aligning revenue recognition with the delivery of goods or services, complying with accounting standards and providing a clearer picture of business health.

When you use it

  • Requires an Advanced Revenue Management subscription (though not available for new subscribers; consider Contracts instead).
  • Supports deferring income and amortizing revenue over time.
  • Four standard revenue recognition categories exist: Collectability, Delivery Commitment, Dispute, and Legal. These can be customized.
  • Event-based recognition allows delaying revenue schedules until a specific event occurs (e.g., software go-live).
