Accounts Receivable

Accounts Receivable

Accounts Receivable (AR) manages invoices and payments you receive from customers for goods or services provided. It tracks outstanding balances and helps ensure timely collections.

Why it matters

As a controller or accountant, AR is critical for maintaining accurate financial records and managing cash flow. Efficient AR processes lead to quicker payment cycles and improved working capital.

When you use it

  • **Invoice Management:** You can add, edit, and delete invoices within Accounts Receivable, with key information readily visible.
  • **Payment Application:** AR facilitates receiving payments from customers and applying them to outstanding invoices.
  • **Terms Definition:** AR terms define the payment rules you offer customers (e.g., Net 30), influencing payment due dates and potential discounts.
  • **Invoice Correction:** If an invoice is incorrect, it can be either deleted entirely or reversed, creating an audit trail of changes.
